My Creative Space

It's Thursday! That means 2 things in this house: I get a very quiet morning because the two older kids go to preschool, AND it's 'My Creative Space' time!  I've been really motivated to sew this week, and that is mostly due to that nice person who bought me the gift certificate to FreshSqueezedFabrics.  Looking at material ALWAYS makes me want to create.  Here's what I made, and all of these are up in the shop:

I'm at 197 sales in the shop, only 3 more to go and I'm at 200!!  Oh, well would ya look up there. What do we have here.... There's four pretty new bags for some lucky soul to buy and help me reach that goal! :)

And I cut out a few more bags last night that I'll be starting on today. I LOVE making pretty things! And I've got the fabric coming that I'm gonna use to make my very own purse. Can you even believe it?  :)
Have a great Thursday, everyone!  I'm going to enjoy the quiet.

Happy birthday to Asher! (and a 'thank you')

Happy Birthday to my Asher, who turns 4 years old today! Yes, Rowan and Asher are one year and 2 days apart, and I wouldn't change a thing!

In this post, I mentioned my favorite fabric shop, FreshSqueezedFabrics.  Well, one of you sweet, sweet readers did something amazingly thoughtful.  You bought me a gift certificate to that shop and I can't even tell you how much that blessed me!  So whoever you are, thank you, thank you, thank you.  THANK YOU!  I will be making myself a purse as soon as I can choose from their amazing selection.   Right now, I'm praying that God would bless you too. :)

My Creative Space and a bunch of random stuffs

**head on over to Kootoyoo for more amazing creative spaces**

Happy Thursday!!

It's been a busy week here at the Greuty home!  For a few days, the weather was wonderful (pardon the alliteration), so we were outside quite a bit. Also, I've been quite preoccupied with my current obsession: Etsy browsing. Seriously obsessed. It's a real problem.  Anytime I make a little bit extra in my shop, I usually use that money to buy somebody (or myself) a gift. I have a sister and a friend who are having birthdays early next month, so as you can imagine, I have some important shopping to do.  Naturally, I will try and make them something as well, but I so love supporting the handmade business!  Here are a few of my favorites that I added to my cart for purchasing as soon as I win the lottery:
Gorgeous shabby chic earrings from PoshPatina
pink studs from baydesign
this amazing fabric by Jennifer Pananelli from freshsqueezedfabrics, my favorite fabric shop!
Be encouraged and persuaded by these pictures to go to these shops and by stuff but I must warn you, if you buy these particular items, I may come to your house and steal them while you sleep.

There hasn't been a ton of time for sewing, or motivation actually, but I did manage to get a bunch of stuff cut out for the shop.

Some of the purses I'm making are going to be hard to let go of. The fabrics and patterns are abs gorg. Lately, I've been making almost all of my bags out of fancy designer fabric, and it never fails that once I finish it, my first thought is: "Ooooh. This would look great with my blablabla shirt and bluedyblooda pants, I probably should keep it."   One of these days,  I really do need to make myself one though. I hate my current storebought purse, but any crafter knows that you are usually your own last priority.  I gotta get on it though. My purse is really ugly.

Sorry if you like it. You can have it.

I need some help!  My current slipcover for this chair (this pic is without the cover) is basically falling apart.

I need to make a new one, and I'm thinking something like this:
from PrudentBaby
Any ideas or thoughts?  I almost always lean towards white for slipcovers but I've seen in my house, it's pretty much the worst idea ever.  And a word to the wise: sippy cup valves make false promises.

Much love to my faithful readers! Thanks for putting up with me.
-Jenn

Some of the cutest.

There were a few projects that I have been working on this past month, and I haven't been able to post pictures because they were gifts.  I tried a few new ideas on my sister-in-law for her baby shower, and today I got to give them to her. She loved them!  And I have to say, I love them too.  Probably the cutest things I've ever made.   It was so fun learning how to make some baby clothes. If you can believe it, it was my first time!
Here's the pillow I made:
The baby girl's name is Kaylee, so I thought a K made from yo-yo's would be cute!
I made two blankets also; a taggie and a regular sized one:
Here's the clothes. A cute little outfit. The shirt was made using this pattern and tutorial, and the leggings were made out of an old t-shirt. The booties were the very first pair of Kimono shoes I made. Love it!
Her baby shower was alot of fun and I hope and pray she was super duper ooper shmooper blessed. She's a special lady, that Lauren.  :)

My Creative Space

As far as crafting, this is the only thing I've made lately. A half-apron for a friend. Took about 10 minutes. I just used a vintage pillow case for the apron part, and for the strap I simply cut off the top of a sheet and sewed that along the top. It has a 'fray' effect but ya know what?  Thats part of the charm. :)
I did list some fabrics in the shop today. Some stuff from my stash that I haven't used for years.? This self-proclaimed fabric hoarder kept it for so long because I was sure I'd use it for something amazingly cute.  Didn't happen. So, had to let it go. This first one was one of my favorites!

Some fun random tidbits...

Since I've been neglecting my little blog, I thought I'd make it up to my millions of readers by posting something tonite. Maybe some random bits of stuff going through my brain? Ok!

1.  Today, I ate a piece of apple pie, 13 sugar cookies, and a half a brick of Monterey Jack cheese.

2.  I don't feel bad about #1.

3.  I haven't sewn anything in almost a week.

4.  I do feel a little bad about #3.

5.  My beloved older sister cleaned, and I mean cleaned, my entire kitchen today. Then swept every floor and folded all my laundry, and finished with picking up all the toys.  I feel loved.  Can't stop looking at my sparkly kitchen. Thanks, B.

6.  Bella is a spitfire. A sassy little ball of sass, and I am loving it.   Her fire is SO going to be used by God.   In a matter of a minute, she goes from laughing, to being shy, to frowning, to laughing again.  Drama. Makes me smile every time, just thinking about how God's gonna use that sweet little girl with a 'tude.

7.  My closest friends live in another state, and all of them have five kids. Rock on, you amazing mama's!

8.   I love my oldest friends, and I love my newest ones.  I'm convinced that mom's NEED each other, even when we don't feel like it.  I love the ladies that I'm growing closer with in my new life here in this town.  And feelin' the love back. God's good.

9.  Been pondering 'the goodness of the Lord'.  He is always faithful to meet us when we ask.  Sometimes in really difficult ways, but He's not interested in keeping us happy. Just makin us holy.

10.  Facebook is ridiculous sometimes. Did you know that I saw somebody say in a status update that what happened in Japan was God's judgment?!  I wanted to fly through cyberspace and cybersmack them.   Compassion, anyone?! Good Lord, have mercy!

11. Daylight savings time is silly. As I'm writing this, I realized that it's actually an hour past my bedtime. Shoot.

Missin' this pretty lady today!

Good night, all. :)

A whole week? Are you kidding me?!

I'm sorry, AGAIN. Forgive me? I have some good excuses, including dinner with good friends, getting sick, and then family visiting, in that order.   It was a busy week!  Here are 5 things I've loved about this past week:

1.  My dad's sense of humor. He is the king of corny jokes (and knows it!) but has a heart bigger than anyone I know, and the most tender one at that. He's truly a man who would do anything in his power to help someone in need.  I really love my daddy.

2.  My mom's adoration for my kids. She's a full-blown 'Grammy' now and loves every minute of it.

3.  Steak. Joel grilled some the other night and let me tell you. One word. DE-LISH.

4.  Thrift store shopping. My mom and I went with the 3 littles, and we got some great stuff! Mostly toys for the kids, but hey, happy kids = happy mama.

5.  Fellowship with good friends.  Tim and Rach, we treasure you guys. What a blessing you are to have as friends. So glad to be going through life with you!

*On a more serious note, I just heard about the horrific earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and I am hardly able to believe it. Everyone right now, say a prayer for those people. I can't even imagine the devastation. Lost family members, jobs, homes, loved ones...Lord, help!*

And because we all know I can't blog without posting at least one picture, here ya go.

Just a little picture of the cutest baby on earth.

five things i love friday - chairs

I've had chairs on my mind lately. Mostly because I am seeing the need to make new slipcovers for a few in my living room, and because all of the kitchen chairs need a coat of some really fun paint. While searching the internets for pictures of chairs, these are some I fell in love with!

(forgive me for not knowing where they came from. I just saved them to my Pictures folder without thinking to save the link too! Oops.)

I'm feelin like the kitchen chairs will end up some shade of aqua or turquoise. The living room chairs will most likely be some shade of white, although I'm really digging fun prints lately too. Who knows?
