Make It Monday- Fabric Yo-Yo's

Attention all sew-ers!..(as in, people who sew. not as in poopy.)  This is SUCH an easy thing to do, I can't even believe it took me until this past month to do it. Yo-yo's can be added to anything to make it look super cute. I especially really like them on little girls' clothes, or even a tote bag.   Once again, this tutorial comes from one of my favorite crafting blogs.  Enjoy!

pincushion mission: accomplished

I decided I needed to replace my tomato pin cushion. Needed something cuter. So I made this!:

I made it after seeing this one online:
Maybe I shouldn't have even showed you that one from online. Mine totally does not even look that good. But give me a break, it was my first time!  And I didnt have all the same colors anyways. But I had fun doing it. And believe it or not, this was my first attempt at a blanket stitch too. So easy! What took me so long?!

5 Things I love Friday - Family Edition :)

My family: (i stole most of these from my sister's facebook).
It started with two.
then this amazing woman was born (and thats her hubby smooching on her!)
Then came that gorgeous brunette on the right. (dont worry, the one on the left comes 2 kids later!)
The blond chick on the right joined them a few years later, followed by

this good lookin sassafrass.
Then the youngest was born, a boy at the end of a line of 4 girls. (his sweet fiance in the pic with him).
And of course, I can't go without adding the ONLY photo i have of the second born's husband! And that guy in the background is my sassy hotty.

I love my family.

Make It Monday - "Easy as a Cinch" Bag

Ok this bag looks SO easy! I haven't made one yet, but when I was looking into making a backpack for Ash for preschool, this is the bag I planned on making. (Minus the flowers, of course). Turns out his wonderful Aunty A bought him a new Lightning McQueen one, who is obsessed with, so for now, this one's on the backburner. But doesn't it look so cute! I think any beginning sew-er could do this.

PS Go and look all around that site. It's one of my favorites for any kind of crafting. There's tutorials for home decorating, gifts, kids stuff, womens and mens clothes, and so much more.

Snapshots from my phone this week...

While emptying my phone's memory so that I could send more texts (dumb), I started browsing through the 135 photos I had on there. I can't even believe i took that many photos on my phone! So for your enjoyment, some photos from this past week, in chronological order :)

1. H had an eye check up a few days ago and while in the waiting room, I saw this fab photo of a bathroom and instantly knew this is how I wanted to do my bathroom (which is still very ugly).
2.   Also in said waiting room, I read this in the Readers Digest. (and by the way, I have to say i love the large print versions!) I laughed out loud and got some strange looks from a few people that day.
3.  Yesturday we took the kiddos to the park and had pizza and played on the playground.  First of all, after you notice the incredibly good looking man and super cute kids, notice the amazing blue tables. i LOVED those, they're the most amazing shade of turquoise.
Must. Have. That. Paint.
4.  I saw my beautiful friend, Cory, yesturday for the first time in many months, and the sweet thing brought me a book that she saw and thought I could use, nay, NEEDED. Tis true! Check this out!
5. The first thing I will be making from this amazing new book! How freaking cute is that. I can hardly even take it.
 6.  I found these two things yesturday. The sign I got at yard sale; isn't that so beautifully vintage!? My friend Lora would LOVE that, I think.  I got the glass at Rite Aid in a dollar bin, believe it or not!! I love how it makes me feel summer-y, even though its October.

5 Things I Love Friday - free downloads!

1.  This free wallpaper that you can download anytime! I particularly liked that first one. Love the patterns!
2.  Printable box templates from this site. I think I have downloaded almost all of them!

3. Download all of the alphabet letters from Ruffled and create anything you want!! I loved the bunting in the pic below from MADE.

4. LOVE these bookmarks! Go to that link and downlaod this and so many more amazing free things. I'm going to print off a bazillion and send them to all my friends.
Ok. Not really. But enjoy!
 5. I wish I had  enough canisters to use every one of these labels. Serioulsy, so cute!! Her site is packed with awesome stuff like this.

I saw this photo of a tan pillow on a red and white bed, and I thought "I have a red and white bedspread! And I love how this looks! I'll make that!" So I did. I made that pillow. It's not exactly the same, but a good approximation and I really dig it! Pardon the picture quality; somethings up with our digital camera so i took these with my phone.  What do you think?

Make It Monday

This may or may not be a new feature on my blog...we'll see how often I remember to do it! I'm going to try to post a tutorial every monday that I think is either super cute, very useful, or both.  Here's the first one!  This is one of my favorite websites. The author is incredibly witty, and I am inspired by her creativity every time I read her posts! I hope you enjoy.

When things get tough...

Whenever I get discouraged or start going through a time in my life that I know I need enrougagement, these are the things/friends/sayings/pictures/whatever that help me remember and stay the course...

My favorite book of all time, God's living Word. No other thing is as life-giving as His promises.
My other favorite book.  If you are a mom or a family member of a kiddo on the autism spectrum, this is an absolute must.  I have read this book 3 times. I'm pretty much always reading it. It is full of encouragement and truths when I am in the midst of the world reminding me there's no hope.
The first time i read this book, I was on a self-inflicted retreat of solitude. I locked myself in my friend's guest bedroom for 3 days and read, prayed, slept, repeat.  This book changed my life that weekend. Such a great picture of our journey with the Lord through all of the valleys, on the mountain tops, and in between. I think I'll re-read this one soon.
Not sure where I found this photo, but every time I look at it, I think about how God created this world with the eyes of an artist. Isn't it just so pretty?
Cheesy though it may be, it's true. :)
My Lora.
 My Sooz.
My man.
My sis in law.

My Danni

And of course, my whole family!  (need a good pic of all of us!)

There are so many other people, pictures, etc that I could post here.   I am blessed, God really loves me alot.

Thrift Store Finds!

Sorry for the quality of photos, it's an overcast dreary day here.  But I just had to show you what I got today at our local thrift shop for just $5!!! Seriously. Thats all! I always just happen to show up there when there's an amazing sale going on. Today it was 50% off of almost everything. Pretty sweet.
1.  Fabric, some vintage containers (I'm a sucker for these kinds of things.), a sugar dish, and some really sweet vintage patterns!
2. a closer look at the awesome containers.
3. a really close look at my new sweet sugar dish. I have been using a smuckers peanut butter jar for ages, so I'm stoked to have this! Even if it doesn't totally (or at all) match my kitchen.

Yay!

Life has been crazy....

...and my sweet husband knew it's been tough lately to keep up with the demands of being a mommy, wife and friend.

This is what I woke up to this morning.

He bought these at midnight last night on his way home from a very busy day.

Aren't they just beautiful? I love you, Joel. Thanks for making me feel like a million carnations.
